Protection of Power Transformers By Using Continuous Wavelet Transform

This paper presents the development of wavelet based transformer protection algorithm. Continuous wavelet transform (CWT) is used for analyzing discontinuities in the primary current signal during internal faults. A custom-built transformer with different tap windings is used for the laboratory studies. A number of experiments are performed at the laboratory in order to test the performance of the proposed technique regarding the speed of response, computational burden and reliability
