Utilization of MES System, Enablers and Disablers

Pressure from endlessly changing global markets, forces Manufacturers to continuously work to improve the quality and reduce the cost of their products and processes. Hence, to know the status of what is being produced is essential to succeed in this work. Different types of software applications are often used to collect product- and process data and provide a visualization to control the production processes. Despite advanced systems, manufacturers often experience difficulties related to information gathering, sharing and interpretation. Based on a case study of a single mass producer, this article presents experience data and illustrate possible challenges in succeeding with a MES system.
