Modeling and analysis of grid networks with Distributed Resources using MATLAB/SIMULINK

Distributed energy resources will play a large role in the future energy infrastructure because of the advantages like lower carbon imprints, lower fuel costs, reduced power flows on transmission lines and the ability to have stand-alone operation in the event of failure of main grid. The interconnection of Distributed Resources with existing grids will have various system impacts that must be considered by both the utilities and consumers before setting up the interconnection. The SIMULINK power system toolbox of MATLAB helps in modeling and analyzing the various system responses to the interconnection of Distributed Resources. Islanded operation of Distributed Resources can also be analyzed. In this paper Distributed Generation networks using MATLAB/SIMULINK are modeled, corresponding system responses are analyzed and suitable control methodologies are proposed.
