Adult-onset Still disease in a patient with acute hepatitis A.

Adult-onset Still disease (AOSD) is a systemic inflammatory disease characterized by high fever accompanied by systemic manifestations, such as arthralgia, rash, lymphadenopathy, and hepatosplenomegaly. Since the term ‘‘adult-onset Still disease’’ was first used in 1971 by Bywaters, a considerable number of studies have been reported; however, its etiology remains unknown. Infectious triggers postulated to cause AOSD include echo virus, mumps, cytomegalovirus, parainfluenza, Epstein-Barr virus, influenza A, rubella virus, parvovirus B19, and hepatitis B or C. To date, an association with hepatitis Avirus (HAV) has not been reported. We report a case of AOSD in a patient with acute HAV infection.
