The invention discloses an idle speed neutral-position control method for an automatic transmission. The method comprises the following steps that a transmission control unit (TCU) detects various sensor signals and controller area network (CAN) signals and judges whether a condition of entering an idle speed neutral-position control mode is met, if so, the TCU controls a neutral-position control clutch to be disconnected gradually and simultaneously detects the raising condition of the rotation speed of a turbine continuously; when the rotation speed of the turbine is raised to a set target rotation speed from 0, the forward clutch is completely released, a control brake is connected, so that a phenomenon that a vehicle slides backwards on a slope is avoided, the TCU updates gear information simultaneously, namely a first forward gear is switched to a neutral gear, and the information is sent to an engine control unit (ECU); the ECU recounts the current load according to the information and is used for self-adjusting the idle speed of an engine; and when the transmission is in the stable neutral gear, the neutral-position control clutch is kept in a completely disconnected state, and the brake is kept in a connection state. By the method, the vehicle enters an idle speed stopping mode, so that the fuel consumption can be saved, the service lives of the forward clutch and the corresponding electromagnet cannot be influenced; and a few number of execution elements are used during restarting, and a system can be easily controlled.
