On board equipment and method and system for processing traffic information using the same

A vehicle mounted device according to one aspect of the present invention comprises a signal information reception unit which is mounted in a vehicle to communicate with a roadside control device and receives traffic signal related signal information through the roadside control device; a vehicle information acquisition unit for acquiring location information and speed information of the vehicle; a calculation unit for estimating the current location of the vehicle at one hour interval using the acquired location information and speed information; and an instruction signal output unit for generating and outputting an instruction signal for the safe driving of the vehicle based on the signal information, the speed information and the estimated current location. By comprising the calculation unit for estimating the location of the vehicle at a regular interval based on the acquired location information and speed information, the present invention may generate an updated instruction signal at a shorter interval than a frequency of receiving a GPS signal relatively to the existing method for acquiring location information from a GPS satellite signal, thereby generating an instruction signal closer to the current traffic situation and promoting the effective, appropriate and safe driving.
