Wideband Channel Measurements and Characterization of the Urban Environment

The paper studied the small-scale multipath propagation characteristics of the wireless channel at 3.5 GHz, in a typical outdoor urban environment. A channel measurement platform was developed for the measurement. Both the fixed and mobile scenarios were measured; the power delay profile, the tapped delay line model, the multipath distribution, the mean excess delay and the Ricean K-factor were presented in the paper. The results verify that it is a rich scattered environment fit for multiple antenna wireless communications.
