A Seedling Taping Machine for Bare Root Plants

ABSTRACT MECHANIZATION of bare root transplanting consists of harvesting plants from a plant bed, selecting suitable plants, loading plants into a dispensing facility and finally transplanting them in the field. Harvested plants have been transplanted by placing them between two layers of tape wrapped onto aim diameter reel by a specially designed machine. Spacing between plants on the tape was approximately 16 cm. An automatic transplanter was then designed to unload those plants from the reel and feed them into the ground at the required plant spacing.
