Modelling of Free Space Optical (FSO) Link for Ground-to-Train Communications

A free space optical (FSO) ground-to-train communications is proposed which could offer high speed data rate and fibre-like data connectivity. The system consists of optical base stations (BSs) positioned along the railway track and receiver mounted on the train coach. The geometrical modelling of the proposed system as well as the proof- of-concept is presented.
