An Evolutionary Approach for Global Production Network Optimisation

Abstract The continuous growth of production networks has led to an increasing number of planning objects which need to be integrated into the network planning scope. Dealing with the increasing complexity of this multi-dimensional decision making problem means identifying the planning objects and defining clear optimisation criteria. The developed application consists of two main components. One is the optimiser which avails itself of a genetic algorithm and the second is the data viewer which enables a user-friendly and interactive assessment of the results. The application was successfully employed within the manufacturing industry
