DIRECT LIQUEFACTION OF WOOD BY ALKALI AND ALKALINE EARTH SALT IN AN AQUEOUS PHASE

Catalytic effects of various salts of alkali and alkaline earth metals were tested in the direct liquefaction of wood in an aqueous phase without a reducing agent like H2 or CO. A marked effect of sodium, potassium and calcium salts was observed for the production of heavy oils in more than 50% yields.
