Synthesis and performances of isomeric sodium alcohol ether sulphate

The sodium alcohol ether sulphates with various carbon chain lengths have been synthesized by reaction with isomeric fatty alcohol-polyoxyethylene ether.The surface chemical properties of the products were determined.The result shows that the ability to reduce the surface tension of isomeric sodium alcohol ether sulphate is slightly stronger than that of the straight chain ones.The detergency and wettability of isomeric sodium alcohol ether sulphate are better than that of the straight ones,but the foaming and emulsification are worse.Micro-polar micelle core of isomeric sodium alcohol ether sulphate is larger,implying that the formation of micelle structure is loose.
