Practical bifurcation criteria considering coil losses and compensation topologies in inductive power transfer systems

In this paper, the bifurcation criteria of the inductive power transfer (IPT) system are derived. The bifurcation phenomena are analyzed considering compensation topologies and coil losses. The bifurcation criteria are defined as the coupling coefficient k and the bifurcation criteria and split frequency are expressed by the quality factor of coil, loss of secondary coil, load resistance, and switching radian frequency. Based on the proposed bifurcation criteria, bifurcation occurrence is predictable in the design process. In order to verify the analysis, simulation and experiment are performed.
