Abstract The generic diagnosis of Limnophyes Eaton has been revised. The imagines of ten new species of Limnophyes Eat. are recorded and described with their distributions for the first time from India. The species are: Limnophyes brevis sp. n., L. mediocris sp. n., L. fuscimarginalis sp. n., L. montanus sp. n., L. flavus sp. n., L. distinctigenitalis sp. n., L. magnus sp. n., L. puncticellus sp. n., L. saetheri sp. n. and L. uniformis sp. n., A key to the species of the genus has also been given.
