PLASTIC : Automatic Characterization and Modeling of Organic Transistors for IC Design and Simulation

The development of electronic devices and circuits in organic technologies opens a wide range of new integrated circuit applications. However, characterization of newly produced devices must be carefully done, to generate accurate device models compatible with state-of-the-art CAD tools. In this paper, the development and utilization of an automatic characterization and modeling tool for organic transistors, together with dedicated testboard, is described. The environment is used with transistors from a state-of-the-art technology where new materials are being tested. Finally, examples of simulated circuit structures demonstrate the model’s accuracy and the potential to explore the IC design in the new technologies.
