Nuclear quadrupole spectra of iodine, iodic acid, and carbon tetrabromide

Measurements of nuclear quadrupole transitions in iodine, iodic acid, and carbon tetrabromide are reported. Carbon tetrabromide exhibits a complex spectrum, and the methods used to resolve it are described. Observations of quadrupole spectra in the solid solutions: CBr4 in CCl4; CBr4 in CH2Cl2; CCl4 in CBr4 are discussed in relation to the relative sizes of impurity and host, and to lattice vacancies in the pure host crystal.
