Network-Aware QoS Routing for Smart Grids Using Software Defined Networks

We consider the problem of quality of service (QoS) routing for smart grids using software defined networks (SDN). The SDN framework enables an efficient decoupled implementation of dynamic routing protocols that is aware of the communication network status. In this work we consider the varying delay status of the communication network along with other network parameters such as links throughput. The routing problem is formulated as a constrained shortest path problem. The results for a test case of the New England test power system are shown.
