Development of Callus Biomass in Medicinally Important Plant Podophyllum hexandrum (Royle) through Micro-propagation Technology

A b s t r a c t K e y w o r d s Podophyllum hexandrum (Berberidaceae) is an important medicinal plant. Callus biomass initiated from leaf, stem and rhizome explants using 0.5 to 3.0 mgl -1 BA (6-benzylaminopurine) with 1.5 to 3.0 mgl -1 NAA (naphthalene acetic acid) in different combinations was measured. In leaf explant higher biomass was noticed in 1.5:1.5 mgl-1 followed by 2.5:2.0 mgl -1 combination of BA and IAA. While 2.0 (BA):2.5 (NAA) mgl -1 gave
