Determination of mercury in urine.

A simple quantitative method for determination of mercury in urine has been described. The method is based on the reduction of mercury in urine to metallic mercury by a copper-hydrazine system. The metallic mercury is oxidized to mercuric ion by acid permanganate at room temperature. No special equipment or heat digestion is required. The mercury is estimated by a titrimetric dithizone technic. Industrial screening experience for mercurialism has been described.
