Application of a Genetic Algorithm to the Availability-Cost Optimization of a Transmission Network Topology

The paper presents an approach to topology optimization of all-optical telecommunications network, minimizing pair(s) of unavailability — cost values, by means of a genetic algorithm. The solutions satisfy traffic requirements, technological limitations, and the defined routing rules.
