NFC-based ubiquitous monitoring system for e-industry

The use of new technologies such as the Internet of Things has become a necessity for support future e-industry. This technology opens up new perspectives in terms of proper functioning of the production and monitoring of personnel working in adverse environments where the slightest inadvertence can be fatal. Near Field Communication (NFC) has shown a practical relevance in various domains of IT applications and we investigate in this paper its applicability in the context of employee safety in their working environment. We propose a scenario to allow the remote monitoring of physiological parameters of staff workers operating on an offshore drilling unit in order to improve their safety and security.
