Resumen El genero Bomarea propuesto por Mirbel (1804) se encuentra bien representado en Peru con 71 especies que incluyen 22 endemismos. Asimismo, 46 especies pertenecen al subgenero Bomarea , 9 especies al subgenero Sphaerine y 16 especies al subgenero Wichuraea . Bomarea bracteata (Ruiz & Pav.) Herb. fue la primera especie descubierta de este ultimo subgenero, nombrada inicialmente como Alstroemeria bracteata Ruiz & Pav., y actualmente es integrante del grupo Dulcis. Es una especie endemica conocida en el pasado solamente de Ancash y Junin de escasas colecciones, por lo que se encuentra pobremente representada en los herbarios del mundo. La descripcion y figura originales (CCXCIb) propuestas en Ruiz & Pavon (1802), referidas a la coleccion tipo de Junin [tipo: H. Ruiz & J. Pavon s. n. (MA)], asi como las deficiencias en la pequena descripcion, el delineado y coloreado, muy lejos de la realidad, efectuados por Herbert (1837), ameritan una ampliacion de la descripcion taxonomica con base en los caracteres exomorfologicos y mejora de la ilustracion. En este sentido, el objetivo de este trabajo es dar a conocer la nueva distribucion y estado de conservacion de la especie, asi como ampliar la descripcion taxonomica y mejorar la ilustracion de este endemismo. El estudio esta basado en la revision de material de herbario (BC, BM, F, HAO, HUT, MA, MO, MSB, P, US y USM) y tres expediciones a las provincias andinas de Julcan y Otuzco (region La Libertad), a fin de efectuar nuevas colecciones, observaciones, tomas fotograficas y evaluacion de la especie. La contrastacion especifica se efectuo con claves taxonomicas dicotomicas. Son presentados la descripcion taxonomica considerando los caracteres exomorfologicos y de habito, delineado, material examinado, distribucion geografica, ecologia, fenologia y estado de conservacion. El material botanico fue depositado en los herbarios: F, HAO, HUT, MO y USM. Bomarea bracteata amplia su distribucion geografica al norte de Peru (Julcan y Otuzco, La Libertad) y en la parte sur de la zona fitogeografica de Amotape-Huancabamba de elevada riqueza endemica; asi como, hacia Lima (Canta). La especie es conocida en pocas localidades, dispersas tanto en el norte y centro de Peru entre 3000 y 4000 m de elevacion, restringida a pequenos fragmentos de matorrales y vegetacion existente entre zonas rocosas; siendo afectada en forma constante por la accion antropica; consecuentemente, se categoriza como vulnerable (VU, B1a). Abstract The Bomarea genus proposed by Mirbel (1804) is well represented in Peru with 71 species including 22 endemisms. Also, 46 species belong to the subgenus Bomarea , 9 species to the subgenus Sphaerine and 16 species to the subgenus Wichuraea . Bomarea bracteata (Ruiz & Pav.) Herb. was the first discovered species of this last subgenus, initially named as Alstroemeria bracteata Ruiz & Pav., and is currently a member of the Dulcis group. It is an endemic species known in the past only from Ancash and Junin with scarce collections, reason why it is poorly represented in the herbaria of the world. The original description and figure (CCXCIb) proposed in Ruiz & Pavon (1802), referred to the Junin type collection [type: H. Ruiz & J. Pavon s.n. (MA)], as well as the deficiencies in the small description, the delineation and coloration, very far from reality, made by Herbert (1837), merit an extension of the taxonomic description based on the exomorphological characters and improvement of the illustration. In this sense, the objective of this work is to present the new distribution and conservation status of the species, as well as to expand the taxonomic description and improve the illustration of this endemism. The study is based on the revision of herbarium material (BC, BM, F, HAO, HUT, MA, MO, MSB, P, US and USM) and three expeditions to the Andean provinces of Julcan and Otuzco (La Libertad Region) in order to make new collections, observations, photographs and evaluation of the species. The specific contrasting was carried out with dichotomous taxonomic keys. The taxonomic description is presented considering the exomorphological and habit characteristics, likewise the delineation, examined material, geographical distribution, ecology, phenology and conservation status. The botanical material was deposited in the herbaria: F, HAO, HUT, MO and USM. Bomarea bracteata expands its geographical distribution to the north of Peru (Julcan and Otuzco, La Libertad) and in the southern part of the Amotape-Huancabamba phytogeographic zone of high endemic richness; as well as, towards Lima (Canta). The species is known in a few localities, scattered both in the north and center of Peru between 3000 and 4000 m elevation, restricted to small fragments of scrublands and vegetation between rocky areas; and it is affected in a constant way by the anthropic action; consequently, it is categorized as vulnerable (VU, B1a).
