On the contact problem with slip rate dependent friction in elastodynamics

The system consists of two infinite elastic slabs in frictional contact. The Coulomb law modelling the contact uses a friction coefficient which is a nonmonotonic function of the slip rate. Existence results of weak solutions are obtained and the uniqueness is also studied. Using the appropriate assumptions of smooth initial data and slow loads we explain how a shock is created on the contact interface. Then, using the (perfect) delay convention a unique soluton is selected
