Joint Source and Relay Precoding Design for One-Way Full-Duplex MIMO Relaying Systems

In this paper we address the sum rate maximization problem for a one-way amplify-and-forward relaying system with a full-duplex relay. This optimization problem which requires the joint source and relay precoding design is in general non- convex. We propose different convex optimization based sub- optimal schemes for different system settings. Moreover, we derive a gradient projection based algorithm which can be used as a benchmark. Simulation results show that a significant gain can be obtained over a half-duplex relaying system by using the proposed methods.
