CHEMODECTOMA (CAROTID BODY TUMOR) - A RARE CAUSE OF NECK MASS: DIAGNOSIS AND SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF 3 CASES, ALONG WITH LITERATURE REVIEW -

Three cases of carotid body tumor (CBT) presented in our surgery out-patient department within a short interval of nine months; i.e. from February till November 2013. All patients were residents of Southern Punjab and females with respective ages of 34, 40 and 51 years (table-1). All presented with history of unilateral, painless, slow growing, disfiguring lump on the right side of the neck in two and on the left in one patient. All had hypertension with insignificant family history. They were nonsmokers and having moderate level of daily activity.
