Statistical Analysis of Carr's Flowability Index

Among many reports about Carr's flowability index, very few statistical studies have been found. This paper analyses Carr's flowability index by use of principal component analysis. Carr's flowability index has been related to a principal component. It is found that the greater the principal component the lower the flowability index of powders. Therefore, Carr's flowability index has some statistical meaning. The principal component accounts for the greater part of the total variation, and it has some correlation with the compressibility, angle of repose, angle of spatula, and the cohesion or uniformity of powder.
