Basic Theory of Digital Signal Processing

Digital signal processing theory and technique, as a very important area in science and engineering, has developed very rapidly in the last thirty years [1]–[15]. This development has benefited from progress in both computer technology and the micro-industry. In fact, 30 years ago, digital computers and the related hardware were expensive for industrial and commercial applications, and therefore their application was limited to the non realtime calculation and control of science and engineering, but the rapid growth of the micro-industry substantially changed that. The theory of digital signal processing is based on traditional signal processing theory; the early research work began in the late 1940s. Today, the theory and application of digital signal processing is deeply involved in many science and engineering areas, including civil and military fields [16]–[25].
