Fibromuscular Dysplasia of the Iliac Arteries

was thought to be confined to the renal arteries until 1964,~ but it is now known to occur in most medium-sized muscular arteries .4, ’ Despite this, it is exceptional to find the external iliac artery involved, 1,6 with Stanley et al. quoting 1% prevalence in their series of 196 patients.’ FMD has also been described in the carotid and vertebral,5,8 subclavian,’ celiac, superior, and inferior mesenteric arteries.10
