"Why computing students are not using e-resources?": Evidence from the University of the East

This descriptive study utilized a validated questionnaire to gather data on student-related factors and barriers to the use of the library online e-resources. It was found out that most of the respondents were male; all except one had computer access at home; majority had Internet access at home; and most were aware that the library had e-book and e-journal collections. Respondents disclosed that they had a high possibility of using the e-resources provided they knew the benefits of using e-resources. They agree to a lesser extent that personal and environmental barriers restrained them from using e-resources. On the other hand, they disagreed that content suitability barriers in terms of value and effectiveness of the e-resources suppressed the use of e-resources. Multiple regression analysis revealed that personal barrier in terms of commitment had negative influence on the intention to use e-resources. Conclusion and recommendations were presented.
