A 70.8 MW Wideband CMOS Low-Noise Amplifier for WiMAX Application

This paper demonstrates the design of a wideband low-noise amplifier for WIMAX application, which is ranging frequency band from 2 to 6 GHz. This proposed low-noise amplifier achieved a higher gain and low noise figure. A wideband input and output impedance matching has been achieved by using reactive elements at input and output of the LNA. Two number of cascode common source amplifiers have been used to achieve a wider bandwidth. Circuit designing and simulation are carried out in Cadence Virtuoso gpdk45 nm CMOS technology. As the simulation results show, the LNA achieved a gain of 45-37 dB, noise figure of 1.1–1.9 dB and 1 dB compression point of −12.12 dB for entire bandwidth. This LNA circuit drew 70.88 MW power from 1.5 V power supply.
