Preparation of fluoride glass films by evaporation

Abstract The chemical composition of glassy fluxes has been determined in order to perform constant deposition rate of composition controlled fluoride glasses. The evidence of the isomorphous substitution between octahedrally coordinated species led to some modification of the starting composition to allow deposition of complex TMFG fluoride glasses. Homogeneous films with mean composition belonging to PbF2 /1b ZnF2 /1b GaF3 vitreous domain (including small amounts of other fluorides like AlF3, NaF, LiF, MnF2, CdF2, InF3) can be obtained up to 80μm thickness on flat substrate.
