Validation of Two Soil-compaction Models for Cylindrical Stress States

Two soil-compaction models, one developed by Bailey and Johnson (1988) and the other adapted from Chen and Mizuno (1990), include soil behavior under deviatoric stresses great enough to cause soil failure. These two models were verified for cylindrical stress states with data from 302 triaxial compression tests. The tests were conducted with two reconstituted agricultural soils over a wide range of different moisture contents comprising a total of 23 different series of experiments.
