Comparison of the voltage support methods in the railway supply system using singular value methods

Control of the voltage in power networks is a very important task, especially in railway supply systems when modern trains and dense traffic are taken into account. In this paper, the use of additional devices such as series capacitors, load tap changer transformers, voltage boosters, sources of reactive power or networks with additional feeders for voltage support are analysed. Allocation of devices and a choice of the best solution has been done using singular analysis. Practical advantages of the proposed method are demonstrated using an example of an exemplified railway supply system.
