A new synchronization scheme for OFDM systems

We present a new pilot OFDM symbol which is suitable for use in both synchronization and channel estimation. Based on the new pilot OFDM symbol, we propose a new synchronization scheme that consists of a frequency offset estimation method and a fine frame synchronization method assisted by the estimated frequency responses on some subcarriers and a predefined synchronization pilot tone. A number of computer simulation results are given to demonstrate the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed approach in wireless environments.
