Reduction of other-cell interference with integrated interference cancellation/power control

An interference cancellation scheme for DS/CDMA cellular radio systems which integrates the power control in order to equalize BERs and minimize the other-cell interference is presented. An analysis of the reduction in other-cell interference and corresponding increase in capacity of this scheme over other schemes is then given. Since the integrated method requires an assignment of unequal received powers to the different users based on their respective distances from the base station, a derivation of a general formula for the expected other-cell interference given an arbitrary assignment of powers is included.
