Testing the Effectiveness of MBIUI Life-Cycle Framework for the Development of Affective Interfaces

In this paper we test the effectiveness of a unifying life-cycle framework for the development of affective bi-modal interfaces. The life-cycle framework is called MBIUI and may be used for the application of many different multi-criteria decision making theories in intelligent user interfaces. As a case study we use an affective bi-modal educational system. More specifically, we describe the experimental studies that are proposed in MBIUI for designing, implementing and testing a multi-criteria decision making theory, called Simple Additive Weighting, in the educational application. The decision making theory has been adapted in the user interface for combining evidence from two different modes and providing affective interaction.
