Developing a library of reusable model components by using the visual simulation environment

This paper describes how the Visual Simulation Environment (VSE) enables the creation of a library of reusable model components and shows how a model can be built with no programming by reusing model components. The VSE has been created under research funding from the U.S. Navy for over a decade. It enables discrete-event, domain-independent, object-oriented, pictured-based, component-based, visual simulation model development and execution for solving complex problems.
