Performance of a 1.2 kWp thin-film free-standing grid-connected photovoltaic system at SIRIM berhad

This study analyses the performance of a 1.2 kWp thin-film, grid-connected photovoltaic system located at Renewable Energy Research Centre (RERC), SIRIM Berhad, Shah Alam, Malaysia. The effect of amorphous-Silicon (a-Si) thin-film photovoltaic (PV) module technology response was analyzed under Malaysia climate. The performance of GCPV system was evaluated by investigating the performance ratio (PR) under Standard Test Condition (STC). From the results, the average PR was measured at 97% after one year of operation. In this study, there are several factors such as dirt and dust accumulation, temperature, shade and degradation that influenced the performance of the PV array. All parameters such as location, tilt angle, orientation, degradation and shading were taken into an account.
