On the lateral stability of a cantilever beam subjected to a non-conservative load

Abstract In this paper vibration and stability of a cantilever beam subjected to vertical and follower loads are investigated. The eigencurves of the beam are presented for various values of the ratio of follower load to vertical and follower loads. The divergence and flutter instability loads of the beam are given for a wide range of the ratio.
