Smart Prothesis: Sensorization, Humane Vibration and Processor Control

This article describes the research phase aimed at the creation the sensorized human upper limb smart prosthesis system. The main focus of the article is on obtaining programming tactile sensation that are organic to humans and which arise with the application of Force Sensing Resistors (FSRs). These sensors act as the artificial tactile mechanoreceptors. The micro vibrating motors incorporated in vibro-bracelet placed on the upper arm is used to transmit the sensation of touch to an amputee. The signal transmission is provided by Bluetooth technology. Arduino was used as the tool for research work.
