Microscopic theory of nuclear collective rotation. VI: The particles-plus-rotor model

For pt.V see ibid., vol.6, no.11, p.1359-74 (1980). Within the framework of the method of specific decoupling the particles-plus-rotor Hamiltonian is derived on a fully microscopic basis. The core-particle interaction, for which only phenomenological ansatzes have been assumed until now, is traced back to the microscopic two-body interaction. Several approximation methods for solving the particles-plus-rotor Hamiltonian are investigated. The quality of these methods is tested by comparing with the exact solutions for the case of particles confined to the (i132/) valence shell and interacting via a quadrupole-plus-pairing force.
