Generation of Bessel Beams at Millimeter-Wave Band Using 3-D Printed Axicon Lenses

Bessel beams are utilized as a practical solution to produce well collimated and confined beams at millimeterwave (MMW) regime. To launch the Bessel beams, a three-dimensional (3-D) printed discrete dielectric axicon lens, illuminated by a V-band standard gain pyramidal horn, is proposed in this work. Simulations show that the designed axicon with a radius of $6.56~\lambda _{0}$ ($\lambda _{0}$ is the free-space wavelength at the center operating frequency 60 GHz) can generate a high quality beam with amplitude oscillations smaller than 3 dB across distances of over $30~\lambda _{0}$, which prove the effectiveness of this design.
