Analytic fidelity measures in the characterization of halftone processes

Analytic measures of performance to facilitate the analysis of binary image reproduction processes are introduced and discussed. These measures evaluate the extent to which image details are preserved, and lead to useful characterizations of the halftone process and its discrete analog.
