A new-shunt-type active filter for high-precision DC magnet power supplies

This paper presents a new shunt-type, current-source, hysteresis-controlled active filter for high-precision magnet power supplies. The shunt type filter has many advantages over the series type in terms of device rating, size, and cost. The salient features of the proposed filter type are the reduced filter converter rating, reduced size of passive elements, and the elimination of the auxiliary power supply that has been used for the series-type active filter.
