Hopefully, the reader has found that the results presented in our book give a fair view of self-organization processes together with a great deal of methodology for a very diverse class of active spatially extended systems. The contents of the book may also appear divided into two parts. One deals with selforganization in single systems and the other with processes in interconnected active 1D (chain) and 2D lattices, thus leading to a 3D architecture.
