A grid connection scheme of a switched reluctance generator for active power injection using P-resonant (P-RES) controller

Abstract This paper reports achievements of a research in the context of distributed generation possibilities. A strategy to inject active power into the mains network is discussed and tested. The energy from a generic alternative source is converted into electrical energy using a switched reluctance generator. The generated voltage feeds a DC link and is closed loop controlled. The DC–AC converter interfaces the generator with a single-phase network, where synchronism with AC side is obtained using a phase locked loop arrangement, and the transmission unity power factor is achieved with a current control loop by means of a P + RES controller. Mathematical modeling of the system elements is presented and used in the simulation of the whole generation and transmission system. The experimental setup used for bench tests is described. Simulated and experimental results are discussed, compared and show the viability of the proposal.
