The effect of H2O2 content on the uptake of SO2(g) by aqueous droplets

The effect of H2O2 content on the uptake of SO2 by aqueous droplets has been measured. For pH < 4, SO2 gas uptake increased when the aqueous solution was doped with [H2O2] up to 2 M. The dependence of the rate of uptake on [H2O2] is consistent with the reaction rate of H2O2 with S(IV) measured in bulk aqueous solutions indicating that the droplet surface does not play a significant role in the H2O2-S(IV) reaction.
