Discrete Element Model for Deformable Bodies

To solve the problems of large displacement and discontinuousness in rock and soil engineering, a element model for deformable bodies was built according to the fundamental principle of dynamics of deformable bodies and discrete element method. Using elastic-plastic side-side contact model and dynamic relaxation method, the corresponding theoretical formula was deduced and the corresponding calculating program was worked out. The displacement and stress distribution of static problem and the astringency of its solution werer presented to test the validity of calculating program and parameter by analyzing a typical example. The feasibility of discrete element method for deformable bodies applied to static calculation in rock and soil engineering was proved.
