Study on performance prediction methods of the vertical-axis variable-pitch turbine for tidal stream energy conversion based on momentum theory

This paper describes and compares 4 streamtube models (single-disk single-streamtube, double-disk single-streamtube, single-disk multi-streamtube and double-disk multi-streamtube models) based on the momentum theory for the hydrodynamic performance prediction of the vertical-axis variable-pitch turbine that may be employed to tap tidal stream energy resources, especially for the prediction of the overall turbine power coefficient. All of these are for the designing of turbines used in tidal stream power plants.
