Design ofRobustDataGathering MAC inWireless Sensor Networks

DMAC usingthestaggered wakeupschedule can achieve bothlowlatency andlowenergy consumption. However, thedatagathering treebuilt byDMAC is fixed permanently. Afixed datagathering treecan't adapt tothevariability intheenvironment ofwireless sensornetworks, anditneedstobereconstructed frequently tosuitthecurrent environment. For example, theinterference isafactor that will change theenvironment because itchanges nodeconnectivity ofwireless sensor networks. Inthis paper, wepropose Robust-DMAC (RDMAC)whichcandynamically construct thedatagathering treeaccording tothe changing environment. Because RDMACseparates the formation ofthedatagathering treefromthe arrangement ofthewakeupschedules, itcaneasily construct anewdatagathering treewithout adjusting nodes' schedules. Fromsimulation results invariable environments affected byinterference, itisshownthat RDMACperforms closely withDMAC ineffective energy consumption andhasremarkable improvement inpacket arrival ratio, network throughput, andpacket delivery latency overDMAC. 1.Preliminary
